Qualifications

Paul is a highly experienced Chartered Physiotherapist and sports injury specialist holding a First Class Honours degree in Physiotherapy and a Master of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Physiotherapy with Distinction.

Experience

He started his career in the NHS where he gained invaluable experience across a range of subspecialties, including orthopaedics, cardiothoracics and transplant.

Paul’s journey as a sports physiotherapist started alongside his work in the NHS, at Henley Rugby Club and the London Wasps Academy. There, over the following 6 years, he became Head of Academy Physiotherapy and worked as the Wasps First Team Physiotherapist in the 2015/ 16 Premiership season.

In 2016, Paul relocated to the National Sports Institute of Malaysia where, he worked with many of Malaysia’s top athletes including Olympians, Commonwealth, Asian and World Champions across multiple sports (squash, diving, athletics and pencak silat to name a few).  Over his time there, Paul was promoted to Head of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation and was the Lead Physiotherapist for Team Malaysia at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

In 2019, Paul was recruited as Physical Therapy Manager to the UFC Performance Institute (UFCPI) in Shanghai and was part of the team that set up the operations of the facility that supports UFC rostered fighters, the UFC Academy and visiting Chinese Olympic sports teams. He is a co-author of the UFC Journal Vol. 2 (available here) and editor of the UFCPI Sports Medicine Level 1 certification.

Returning to the UK in 2022, Paul taught on the Sports Rehabilitation MSc course at Middlesex University. He is also a Member of Faculty for the Rugby Football Union Pre-Hospital Immediate Care in Sport Programme, where he supports the teaching of pitch-side emergency care to other practitioners working in sport.

Having delivered high performance sports physiotherapy services to such a range of elite athletes over the last decade, Paul wants to impart these standards to others and enable individuals to optimise their own physical potential, enhancing both their performance and health. Thus Olympus Physiotherapy is born to continue serving world-class athletes and deliver high performance physiotherapy to individuals from all walks of life.
